Mid Wales Holiday Lets Coronavirus Travel Policy *UPDATE* August 2021

7 August 2021

Restrictions will be removed and replaced with the ongoing requirement for all organisations and businesses to carry out Covid risk assessments – These will determine what reasonable measures are needed to be put in place to keep workers and customers and visitors safe.

There will also be no legal limits on the number of people who can meet others indoors so all businesses can reopen fully.

Face coverings will continue to be required by law in Wales in shops and on public transport but no longer required in hospitality settings.

12 April 2021

After yesterday’s announcement from the UK government, we’re looking forward to be able to welcome our visitors back from England as of Monday 12th April!
The same rules apply in Wales as they do in England when staying overnight – At this time, only self contained accommodation are able to reopen for holiday visitors, and you will only be able to share holiday accommodation with the people you live (single household), and people in your support bubble (or anyone who is a carer of a member of the household).

27 March 2021

From 27 March, self-contained holiday accommodation will be able to re-open to members of the same household or support bubble within Wales.

Self-contained accommodation includes:

  • Hotels and other serviced accommodation (e.g. B&Bs, hostels, etc.) that do provide en-suite rooms and can provide room service meals.
  • Other accommodation that is entirely self-contained (e.g. self-catering cottages, apartments, etc.)
  • Glamping or any other accommodation with ensuite shower/bath, WC and kitchen facilities
  • Holiday caravans, touring caravans (including seasonal), motorhomes and campervans where they have their own on-board shower, WC and kitchen facilities

Caravan & touring sites will need to ensure the strict application of industry guidance on shared waste disposal and water points.

All shared facilities, aside from water and disposal points, will remain closed including toilets, shower blocks, laundry, nightclubs, swimming pools

Bars, restaurants and cafes can operate a take-away service only.

For the next two weeks, travelling in and out of Wales for leisure purposes is still not possible, therefore we urge you not to make a booking if you live outside Wales until 12 April 2021 at the earliest.

18 February 2021

Welsh Government has confirmed that we are not going to be able to open until at least Easter. We will be updated on the situation on 12 March 2021 (the next Government announcement).
We are a small Mid Wales Business who have unfortunately only been able to open the apartments for 2 months in the last 12, and as i’m sure you have faced challenging times as well. We would love for anybody who we cant accommodate due to Government restrictions to consider moving the date to later this year or next year, in the hope we are not burdened by numerous refunds at a time when we have not generated any income since August. Please see below and let us know how you would like to proceed;
Bookings between 1 and 31 March (That were moved from last year due to COVID)
If we moved your date from last year, please note, we can offer you another date in 2021 or 2022. Please refer to the website to check availability.
Bookings between 1 and 31 March 2021.
If this is the original booking, we would love you to have a look at the website and look for availability during this year or in 2022. You are entitled to a refund (where applicable), so please let us know, but we would love to re-accommodate you.
Bookings from 1 April 2021.

Please note as far as we are aware Wales will reopen the tourism sector at Easter, so all bookings are subject to current terms and conditions. We hope to have an update on 12 March from the Welsh Government at the roadmap to re-opening from Easter. We envisage the possibility of restrictions when the lock down is lifted which may include the ‘Rule of 6’, this doesn’t mean that if more than 6 are due to come we cannot accommodate you still, as we have the ability to set the property up as room only (like a hotel / B&B) as each room has its own en-suite and can be self-contained. This would mean that Glandwr house would still be the perfect base.

There may be scope to book another apartment to spread the number of people over 2, 3 or 4 properties (dependent on availability), and we would offer these at a nightly rate with a 25% discount.

20 December 2020

Please note we are still open for those contractors who are working in the area.

Wales is now in Level 4 and we must close our doors to tourism;

At alert level 4 you must:

  • Follow social distancing rules with people you don’t live with or who are not in your support bubble.
  • Wear a face covering (if you are able to) in all indoor public places.
  • Stay at home.
  • Not create an extended household (single adults or single parents may join with one other household to form an exclusive support bubble).
  • Meet only the people you live with or your support bubble indoors.
  • Meet only your household or support bubble in private gardens.
  • Meet only your household or support bubble outdoors.
  • Work from home if you can.
  • Not travel without reasonable excuse.
  • Not travel internationally without reasonable excuse.

23 October 2020

Fire-break Lockdown

A short, sharp firebreak will be introduced across Wales at the end of this week to help regain control of coronavirus. This means that a series of restrictive measures will be in place from 6pm Friday 23 October until the start of Monday 9 November 2020.

What restrictions will be in place?

There are 5 main things:

  • people must stay at home, except for very limited purposes, therefore we will be unable to allow any visitors unless they are key workers.
  • people must not visit other households or meet other people they do not live with
  • certain businesses and venues, including bars, restaurants and most shops must close
  • secondary schools will provide learning online only for the week after half-term, other than for children in years seven and eight. Primary schools and childcare settings will remain open.
  • face coverings continue to be mandatory in the indoor public spaces that remain open (subject to certain exemptions and exceptions), including on public transport and in taxis

How long will these measures stay in place?

These measures will be in place from 6pm Friday 23 October until the start of Monday 9 November 2020.

What will happen after Monday 9 November?

Following the end of the firebreak, a new set of national rules will be introduced, covering how people can meet and how the public sector and businesses operate.

16 October 2020

Travel restrictions for people coming into Wales

The new restrictions came into force on Friday 16 October at 6pm, and have been introduced to prevent people who live in areas with high coronavirus infection rates across the UK from travelling to Wales.

This is designed to prevent the spread of infection within Wales and to other areas of the UK.  Our guests are extremely important to us but the Governments immediate priority is to keep Wales safe from coronavirus. We look forward to welcoming customers from high incidence areas back to Mid Wales Holiday Lets when it is safe to do so.

Which areas in the UK will be affected by these new restrictions?

The new restrictions will apply to high incidence areas as listed in the new Schedule 4B of The Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No. 2) (Wales) Regulations 2020 and include:

Are there any exceptions to the above restrictions?

People who live in the above areas outside Wales can still travel to areas in Wales with low coronavirus infection rates if they have a reasonable excuse to do so. These are similar to the ‘reasonable excuses’ required in order to be able to enter or an area of Wales subject to local restrictions and includes travelling for work purposes where they cannot work from home, or if they have caring responsibilities.

For more detail on what is a reasonable excuse, you can visit any of our pages on local restrictions in different areas of Wales, and read about the different circumstances in which it is permitted for residents of those areas to leave their area. Therefore we can still accept key workers if you are looking for contractor accommodation.

14 September 2020

Rule of 6.

Please note the guidance published on 13 July 2020 and booking policy still stand and this is an addition COVID-19 Travel Policy.

Welsh Government has changed its COVID-19 policy as of today stating that ‘as of 14 September, meetings or gatherings indoors even within your extended household must be limited to 6 people (not including any children aged under 11)’. This means that any bookings will have to adhere to this.

This doesn’t mean that if more than 6 are due to come we cannot accommodate you still, as we have the ability to set the property up as room only (like a hotel) as each room has its own en-suite and can be self-contained. This would mean that Glandwr house would still be the perfect base if you are planning to eat out and congregate as a group outside the property

There may be scope to book another apartment to spread the number of people over 2, 3 or 4 properties (dependent on availability), and we would offer these at a nightly rate with a 25% discount if your booking was before the announcement.

Unfortunately bookings since March 23 2020 (confirmation of lockdown) were made knowing the risks of the COVID-19 pandemic, where our booking policy was clear that we would be unable to offer a refund for COVID-19 related cancellations.

What we are able to do is offer a date change between January and March 2021 (excluding 22-31 December 2020) at no extra cost to the original booking. But this must be requested within 4 weeks of your booking to give us the best possible chance to open the dates for re-booking. This excludes bookings between 14 September and 11 October where you have until 20 September to notify us of the date change.
