You can fish 5 miles of the River Wye running through Rhayader; 3 miles of the River Marteg, a tributary of the River Wye above Rhayader; and 2 miles of the River Elan below the Elan Village. Brown Trout, Grayling and Coarse fishing. Also 2 miles of the River Claerwen for wild brown trout fishing.

Llyngwyn Lake, a natural spring fed 16 acre lake in quiet countryside, 3 miles from Rhayader. A Troutmaster water. Restocked regularly with rainbow trout from 2lb. Also some brown trout. Depth varies up to 55ft. Fly Fishing only. Open all year. Carp fishing also available.
