One of the best scenic roads in the world

Richard Parks referred to the Rhayader to Cwmystwyth road as one of the best scenic drives not only in the UK but in the World.

Described by the AA as “one of the 10 best scenic drives in the world”, the B4518 road links Cwmystwyth and Rhayader. Its spectacular scenery crosses the watershed of the Cambrian Mountains taking in the fabulous Elan valley with its dramatic lakes and dams. The routes are ideal in a vehicle, or by bicycle or you can explore the Elan Valley and the Cambrian mountains on foot. The Rhayader 20 mile road race utilises a section of the route.
